A London Grey Update
Hello everyone! It’s been forever and a day since Matt or I have posted anything. London is doing extremely well in pre-school, we adore his therapists and his teacher! His class-mates are just a bundle of cuteness. One of the children calls London, “Lemon” and it just melts my heart. London is now four years old and he is growing like crazy, he is already in a size 10 shoe! Continue reading
Sensory Bomb Recipe
Hello everyone! The most common email request I receive is for samples of Sensory Bombs or to purchase them. I roughly receive up to 3 emails a week and I apologize for not getting back to everyone. Most of the emails come from the UK, I’ve had emails from here in the US, a few from Australia, Africa and Germany. It’s exciting. Continue reading
What Gets Me Through
What gets me through the day & stops me from pulling a Thelma & Louise… Here’s 15 things that make life bearable. Read through mine and then tell us some of yours! Continue reading
Good News, Everyone!
It’s been a long time since I’ve posted here. Life as parent of an autistic child is difficult. We’ve had our ups and downs. Sometimes it feels like more downs than ups. Well, I’m happy to say that today is an up. And not just an up, our good news comes in threes… Continue reading
10 Things
One of my heroes in the Autism community is Rob Gorski from the Lost and Tired blog. He created a movie of his popular post, “10 Things My Autistic Kids Wished You Knew.” I am sharing this on our blog because Rob’s post gave Matt and I hope when we needed it most right after London was first diagnosed with Autism. Continue reading
A Vacation From Autism
My mother has been my own personal cheerleader and support system all through our situation with London. She listens to all I say, she sympathizes, she tries hard to keep me positive and she does this all while her heart is breaking for her grandson. When we get off the phone, she Googles and researches and reads. Then in our next conversation she will present her findings and give me not only motherly advice, but educated advice as well. She’s like this mom/scientist/advice guru who really should have her own show. Continue reading
New Cup To Rule Them All
There is a NEW cup to rule them all… London is drinking out of a NEW cup with a NEW lid! Wait a sec, let me type that again, London is drinking out of a NEW cup with a NEW lid! Okay, that felt better than drinking a Quad-Venti Caramel Macchiatto from Starbucks – and calorie free, how about that? Continue reading
No More Crutches!
Our therapists are amazing and I trust them implicitly. I know that they are going above and beyond for London and that they are doing everything they can to teach him and work with him. Up until this point, London has ruled the roost and has personally lead his sessions. Continue reading
One Cup To Rule Them All
It is a biological imperative that I feed and hydrate my child and when I fail to do so either because of texture sensitivity or obsessive behavior, it drives me absolutely insane. I love London so much and I cannot tolerate him not eating or drinking. I have gone so far as to put water in a syringe and force him to drink that way. I have physically held him down and tried to force food into his mouth. Continue reading
London’s Diagnosis
It has been roughly 1 year since London was diagnosed with Severe Autism. London was diagnosed using the Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS) and he has also been medically diagnosed by our doctor as “Severely Autistic.” Continue reading
